"I Never Watch Finish Lines": Ignacio on Road Racing as a Team Sport
The new year brings a new season and a new type of racing to experience. While we ride road and mountain bikes all year, in the spring season many riders enjoy road racing. Road racing is a super fun change of pace because it very much is a team sport, and it allows the youth to engage and work with each other in a different way.
We try very hard to encourage them to engage with the sport as a team, and building teams takes time and intentional training. Getting teams to gel often takes many races. I am super excited to report that we hit the ground running this season. While we have only done a few races, we have already shown the dedication, kindness, and ethos needed to be something special this season.
I never watch finish lines. I watch how we get to finish lines. How we work with each other. How we cheer for each other. I am so excited with how we are taking care of each other, and the results are showing. When we focus on being great teammates, results just follow.
