From first time racers to elite juniors we have a place and space for all junior cyclists that are excited to learn about the sport of bicycle racing.

No bike racing experience is necessary to join, just a good coachable attitude and the self trust to learn and work hard. We believe in learning through structuring appropriate challenges and then working together to achieve goals.

In the fall semester we focus on local scholastic mountain bike races put on by the Arizona Cycling Association, and we do a few local road races.

In the Spring we participate in local mountain bike races through the Mountain Bike Association of Arizona (MBAA), as well as local road races. Many of the riders on the team also enjoy the challenge of the national level road races that are put on by the US Junior Cup Series, while others take on the challenge of the Epic Rides mountain bike races.

We are eager to help young juniors get into a sport that may be new to them, and then then help them take the sport as far (and as fast) as they desire.

For over 20 years we have been following this passion to help teach young people that there is nothing they can’t do.

Race Program

2025-2026

Training

Weekly Expectations of Riders

Youth on the team will have the opportunity to ride on adult, coach led rides 3-5 times per week and at different times of the year will be involved in cross training activities. New, more inexperienced riders will typically ride 3 days a week, twice during the week day for 1.5 hours and then one day on the weekend for 2-3 hours.

More experienced riders might ride 2 hours, 3 times per week and then 3-4 hour rides on both weekend days. Every youth is encouraged to explore both mountain and road riding and they are in direct communication with the coaches to build the experience and skills they are most excited about and that are appropriate for their level.

Bikes & Service

We provide bikes for our riders, thanks to generous donations.

We believe cycling should be accessible to everyone. As we have said for years: you only need shorts and T Shirt to participate and explore.

Beyond maintains a small fleet of bikes and gear and can outfit riders who are eager to enjoy the challenges of cycling. If riders are able to bring their own equipment that is absolutely ok as well.

If you have a quality road or mountain bike that is not in use, consider donating it to our team.

Meet our in-house bicycle service partner: Rage Kitten Bicycles

We encourage all riders and families to use Rage Kitten Bicycles for parts, service, and repairs. For Beyond team riders and their family members, Rage Kitten offers:

  • Discounts of up to 50% on parts and accessories

  • Complimentary simple adjustments on team and personal bikes

  • 15% discount on scheduled labor for riders' personal bikes

  • Special purchase options for riders and immediate family members throughout the year

  • Regular group bike repair classes and guided repair assistance for riders who want to work on their own bikes

Service contribution for riders on Beyond fleet bikes:

Should a fleet bike need a new part that must be purchased (e.g. tires, chain, bar tape, replacement wheel), we ask that the rider/family contribute 20% of the needed cost.

The intention is to ensure that the rider understands the costs of products and is not being abusive to the bike. Beyond Racing and Rage Kitten will provide the labor or the guidance for the rider to install the new part.

Rider Check-Ins

Setting Goals Together

Pre-season meetings align rider, family, and coach on expectations and goals. These conversations help us support each rider’s growth and make sure everyone is on the same page.

Tuition & Scholarships

Tuition covers a third of the program costs

  • Tuition includes everything listed above in the “What Beyond Provides” section

  • Because each rider selects from a menu of races to find the challenges that best suit them, individual rider race fees will vary

  • Beyond will underwrite 50% of race costs for each rider, including race registration fees, travel expenses, food, and camping or lodging.

Finances should never be a barrier to participation

  • Options for monthly payment installments and need-based scholarships will be available.

  • Please reach out directly to Beyond’s Executive Director to discuss options: danielad@beyond-tucson.org

  • Spring Scholarship Request deadline: December 20th

National Level Races

In the Spring Season we travel to national level Road Races that are part of the US Junior Cup Series.

Invitation-only races—like Redlands or Nationals—are spring and summer opportunities for riders ready to up their challenge, and their commitment. Traveling to a big race with the team is an exciting and valuable part of an athlete’s development, but it’s important to approach it at the right time, and in the right way.

Attendance on team trips is by coach selection and is based on:

  • Age & level of development

  • Race results & performance progression

  • Team logistics & travel capacity

  • Kindness and attitude towards self and others

  • Attendance and dedication towards team and mission

Invitational races can be added at the start of the season or later with notice.
