Beyond Volunteers

At Beyond Racing, we believe that racing is about so much more than results—it’s about kids discovering resilience, building confidence, and learning the power of supporting one another.

Parents and volunteers play a huge role in making these transformative experiences possible.

When you show up to lead rides, drive the van, set up camp, help with meals, or cheer from the sidelines, you’re not just filling a role—you’re helping young riders believe in themselves and their team.

Event Support Volunteers

Beyond Racing relies on volunteers to support youth riders and build our community.

Rider’s family members are asked to volunteer at one event each season to keep everything running smoothly and to help keep our tuition costs low.

What Event Support Looks Like:

  • In-town races: Volunteers support transportation and food for the event.

  • Day trips: 1-2 hours of driving (generally there and back) and some in-race support (feed zone, meal prep, etc).

  • Weekend race trips: Longer driving required, camp setup, cooking, cleaning, race support, and breaking down camp.

Volunteer Coaches

Beyond Racing prides itself on experienced and professional coaching staff who bring a high level of training and experience to the program. Volunteer coaches bring new perspectives, and a passion for junior cycling that fuels our success.

  • Criminal Background Check

  • Reference Check

Meet Our Volunteer Coaches

Joel

  • I believe Ignacio's team helps young people grow into more capable, resilient, and holistically healthy adults. This team was a vital part of my own children's lives, and now I want to help spread these gifts to the next generation.

  • As a young adult without a car, the bicycle gave me a way to venture far and wide, including some long-range bike touring. That led to a few years of amateur road racing in California, another half-dozen years racing cyclocross in New England, and eventually to masters road racing in Tucson. Coaching with Ignacio's teams has pushed me to develop as a mountain biker.

Lynn

  • I volunteer coach with Beyond Racing because I believe in what we can do for our athletes, on and off the bike.

  • My experience includes 20+ years of coaching and riding all the bikes.

Dan

  • I’ve witnessed firsthand with my son and with several other riders the power of cycling to help young athletes see and then achieve their potential to do difficult things. Having the chance to support Beyond Racing athletes as they learn about themselves and their potential is incredibly gratifying.

  • I’ve spent my adult life pursing a range of outdoor and endurance sports. A knee injury ultimately ended my decades-long love of running, but opened the door to cycling. Riding my bikes give me the chance to stay fit, interact with friends, and enjoy the beautiful landscapes that have drawn me outside for my entire life.

Kaety

  • I am a volunteer coach with Beyond Racing because I want to make sure these young athletes have the knowledge and skills to take care of themselves as they get older and progress in their sport.

  • My background in cycling includes many years of bike commuting, as well as ballet, modern dance, and 25+ years of yoga

Adrian

  • I am a volunteer coach with Beyond Racing because its a privilege to be part of this organization and the lives of these amazing children. To assist them to become the best version of themselves on and off the bike. To guide and witness the growth and development process of them becoming leaders, confident, self-trust, respectful, and independent individuals.

  • My background in cycling and endurance sports comes from growing up around motorcycles and racing them on motocross track as a child/adult. My transition to cycling took place in March of 2019 and I've been able to adapt these skills and experience to cycling community.

  • I think the most rewarding part of volunteering for Beyond Racing is seeing the riders develop. When they start you can see the riders who are natural athletes and you can also see the riders who will have to work a bit harder. these are my favorite kids, Witnessing their transformation into incredible riders and teammates is a real joy. i also love the fact that we get to coach alongside the riders. not from the edge of a field or pool. We share the same effort and they respect us for that in a unique way.

  • I grew up as a gymnast then a rock climber so am not a lifetime cyclist but volunteering with Beyond has certainly elevated my pedalling game and it has become the thing that drives me forward and keeps me healthy.
