December: Building Strength, Skills, and Team Spirit
December was a busy and memorable month for the team, filled with training, team bonding, and plenty of time on the bike. We wrapped up the year stronger, closer, and excited for what's ahead in the spring racing season.
Off the bike, a kickball team-building day gave riders a chance to compete, laugh, and connect. This focus on teamwork continued with a whole-team activity at Himmel Park, led by Playformance. Through guided challenges and games, riders worked on communication, trust, and leadership, all skills that translate directly to racing and training together.
The holiday season also included a White Elephant Holiday Chili Party, graciously hosted by one of our team families. It was a fun and festive evening that brought together athletes, families, and coaches to celebrate the season and the strong community that supports our team.
On the bike, riders stayed busy with both mountain and road camps. During mountain bike camp, the team spent time on local favorites like Honey Bee and the Gabe Zimmerman Trail, building skills, confidence, and trail awareness. The road camp capped off the month with an impressive 400+ miles and over 25 hours of riding, including classic Tucson routes such as the Shootout, Kitt Peak, and Mt. Lemmon. These rides challenged riders physically and mentally while setting a strong foundation for the season ahead.
December reminded us that success comes from more than miles. It comes from teamwork, commitment, and the incredible support of our families, donors, and sponsors. We're excited to carry this momentum into the new year.
