Summer MTB Camp

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • All adult coaches are SafeSport/First Aid/CPR certified.

    Beyond Racing youth riders (ages 12 - 17) will serve as youth camp counselors, helping to lead the rides and help kids build skills at wherever they are starting from.

    Ratio of adult coaches and camp counselors to campers will be roughly 1:1.

  • We practice intentional heat management, using looped routes allowing for constant van access for hydration and cooling.

  • While no trail experience is necessary, campers should be able to demonstrate the following skills:

    • Able to stand up on pedals while riding

    • Shift gears efficiently

  • At this time, campers can only sign up for one session.

  • Scholarships available, and if needed, Beyond Racing will provide all equipment.

  • Beyond Racing Headquarters is located at 447 West 2nd Street. Major cross streets are Main and Speedway. Please park along 2nd Street and walk your camper into the gated area. 

    • Day 1. Skills day in and around the greater downtown and U of A area. 

    • Day 2. Fantasy Island 

    • Day 3. Sweetwater Preserve Trails 

    • Day 4. Robles MTB trails 

    • Day 5. 36th St. trailhead of the Tucson Mountains

  • Every skill level can be accommodated at these locations, from first time beginners to more advanced riders. 

  • Campers will be subdivided into groups to allow them to practice at their own skill level. Rides could be from 4-12 miles.

  • We will have snacks, but campers should also bring things they like

    Lunch will be provided courtesy of Gap Ministries.

  • It is critical that riders have access to water. A water pack is highly recommended.

  • Closed toes of course. Any type of gym shoe is fine. 

    If riders have a skate style shoe (flat sole) that can help, but no need to get carried away (yet).

  • We want your camper to be comfortable. Regular gym style clothes are just fine to start. Shorts and t-shirt. If your camper is comfortable in cycling clothes they can wear that. We also have cycling clothes that campers can try out if they are interested, but we do not want clothing to be a barrier to trying.

  • Yes, recommended for dust and glare.

  • If you already have gloves, bring them. Otherwise, Beyond Racing will be providing new gloves to all campers on the first day of each session.
